Research the Real Estate Photography Industry

If you're looking to start a real estate photography business, it's important to do your research and learn as much as you can about the industry. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Know your market. It's important to know who your target audience is and what type of properties they're interested in. Are you going to focus on residential or commercial properties? Luxury homes or more affordable options? Knowing your market will help you focus your business and attract the right clients.

2. Understand the business. Real estate photography is more than just taking pretty pictures. You need to understand the ins and outs of the business, from marketing and promoting your services to understanding the contracts and legalities involved. My online course in the fall will cover all of these topics... stay tuned!

3. Stay up-to-date with technology. As a real estate photographer, you'll need to be using the latest technology to stay ahead of the competition. This includes having a good camera, editing software, and other necessary equipment such as a tilt-shift lens. But it also means staying up-to-date on trends in real estate photography so you can offer your clients the latest and greatest services.

4. Network with others in the industry. Getting connected with other real estate photographers is a great way to stay informed about industry news and trends, as well as get advice and tips from more experienced professionals. This is also a great way to see how others price their services!

Social Media Marketing for Real Estate Photography

Social media marketing is one of the most important aspects of running a real estate photography business. It's a great way to connect with potential clients, show off your work, and build up your brand.

There are a few key things to keep in mind when it comes to social media marketing for your business:

1. Make sure you have a strong presence on all the major platforms you are confident working in - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.

2. Consistency is key. Schedule posts regularly and share high-quality content (something with value) that showcases your work in the best light possible for your clients to recognize!

3. Engage with potential clients and followers - answer their questions, give advice, and be friendly - this is important!

4. Never pay for ads, you're wasting money... trust me I know.

5. Keep an eye on the latest trends and capitalize on them!

By following these tips, you can make social media marketing work for your real estate photography business and help you reach your goal of six figures sooner than your think!

Organize Your Finances

There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to running a real estate photography business. From managing client expectations to staying on top of your workflow, it's easy to let things fall through the cracks - especially when it comes to your finances.

But if you want your business to run like a well-oiled machine, you need to get organized and stay on top of your finances. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

1. If you can, hire an accountant! It is so important to keep track of all your income and expenses. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's crucial to keep tabs on where your money is coming from and going. Accounting software is a must, or simply create a spreadsheet to track everything. This will help you stay organized and make filing taxes a breeze come tax season.

2. Set up a system for invoicing and payments. Whether you use an online invoicing service or do everything manually, make sure you have a system in place for issuing invoices and collecting payments from clients. This will help keep things consistent and prevent any mix-ups down the road. Once you feel you're in a good spot, hire a book keeper to take over. It's worth every penny!

3. Stay organized with receipts and documentation. Whenever you make a purchase for your business, whether it's something small like office supplies or larger items like camera equipment, be sure to save all your receipts and documentation. This will come in handy come tax time or if you ever need to reference something for warranty purposes down the road.
